FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which tax regime is better?

It depends on your deductions. The New Regime suits most people with few deductions; the Old Regime can win if you claim large 80C, 80D, HRA or home-loan benefits. This calculator checks both and tells you.

Is the new tax regime always better?

No. For many salaried people it is, thanks to the higher standard deduction and rebate — but large deductions can make the Old Regime cheaper. We compare both for you.

Is this calculator free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up required.

Does this calculator include rebate under section 87A?

Yes. The Section 87A rebate is applied automatically under both regimes wherever you qualify.

Can salaried employees use this calculator?

Yes. It is built for salaried individuals, and also works for freelancers and small business owners.

Is my information stored?

No. All calculations run in your browser. Your numbers are never uploaded or saved unless you choose to email yourself the report.

Can NRIs use this calculator?

It is designed for resident individuals. NRIs follow different rules, so please speak with our CAs for an accurate figure.

How accurate is this calculator?

It uses the current FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27 slabs, rebate, surcharge and cess, and matches mainstream calculators for salaried cases. For complex incomes, confirm with a CA.
